Before and After TV Cabinet

My home seems to be ever changing. Especially when you find a great bargain like this TV Cabinet for $20!

Before and After

It was a black wood grain veneer with silver handles, that had fallen out in some places.

A few coats of white paint later and some new handles from Ikea and it was a perfect fit in our little home… almost…

We ended up rearranging all our furniture as it was too big to fit where we used to have out TV. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we love our new home configuration.

Special thanks to my husband who did most of the painting!

The Provincial Nest

My lovely aunty Poppy has started living her dream with her own store, selling all things vintage, rustic & recycled.

It’s called The Provincial Nest and is mostly based online but a few weekends ago she had her first ‘pop up shop’ in Hahndorf and I went along to visit.

Her collection was so delightful. The red table was my favourite, of course.

Check out more on the website www.theprovincialnest.com

The next pop up shop will be on Sunday 29th September 2013 on the Storison verandah, 73 Main St, Hahndorf

Moody Monday

Welcome to my first Moody (Mood Board) Monday!

Monday’s aren’t generally a favourite day of the week but what a way to brighten the mood with a lovely mood board!

This first one I put together for an assignment and I did a bit of a mock up/mood board.  After changing floor plans, picking paint colour schemes, fabrics & finishes this is one of 4 mood boards we were asked to present.

The fictional client wanted a more open and family orientated living space, so as well as a light open feel I wanted to create a comfortable mood in the house which is achieved with soft neutrals, calming teal coloured feature wall, traditional style cabinets and  warm natural floors.

You may notice some of my influence came from last Thursday’s photo of the day

Loving Chevrons right now!

Chevron Cushions, Chevron Rugs, Chevron Walls….

Love this wall by Jared Sherman Epps Design so bold!

My personal preference however, goes to the softer tones grey chevron walls like this one from All Things Lovely

For something a little less in your face, here’s a few Chevron cushions I found on Etsy.

Love this one that is on hessian fabric.. adds a rustic element to that mod chevron look. Nice blend of modern vintage 🙂 Source unknown.

It’s amazing what a chevron rug can do to a room. It  brings a bold statement and a sense of activity and can really ground a space.

I love the chevron rug below with the soft neutral colours and rustic table, a great blend of a modern style with rustic & provincial charm.
